Program Objectives

As one of the best-known branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncture is used extensively and successfully all over the world. Acupuncture promotes health and is used to treat both acute and chronic illnesses by stimulation of specific points on the body, in many cases through the insertion of a filiform needle. You will receive the necessary instruction to practice acupuncture effectively, safely, and competently. The Acupuncture program will give you an excellent base for the acquisition of further knowledge of Chinese Herbology through continuing education.

Career Opportunities

With relatively few registered Acupuncturists in Atlantic Canada, there is a need for comprehensively trained practitioners. There are employment opportunities for both private practices and partnerships with other health professionals.

Certification

The majority of Atlantic Canada's Acupuncture Associations are currently pursuing regulation for Acupuncture in the provinces. Successful legislation will allow graduates of the Acupuncture program to write a registration exam locally. In the meantime, since the Acupuncture program meets the standards set out by currently regulated provinces (BC, AB, Que), students are allowed to challenge their set provincial registration exams.
